A safety licence is required for the use of radiation
A safety licence is required for the use of radiation. Use of radiation includes all practices concerning radiation sources, such as trade in radiation sources and the manufacture, possession, servicing, repairs, import and export of radiation sources. Radiation sources include X-ray equipment, radioactive substances or devices that contain them.
Approvals and qualifications
Under the Radiation Act and Radiation Decree, the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority has specific obligations concerning different inspections and the stipulation and verification of competences.
Laser shows
STUK must be notified of any laser displays and shows.
Liability for the use of ionizing radiation
According to the Radiation Act (592/1991), the responsible party is liable for safety in the use of radiation.

Inspections
The Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority conducts inspections of places where radiation is used. Inspections help ensure that the use of radiation meets the safety requirements presented in the statutes and meets the licence conditions and regulations.
