Product criteria for radiation appliances in health care

Radiation appliances in health care must meet specific criteria before they can be placed on the market and used in Finland. Before an appliance can be placed on the market, the manufacturer must demonstrate its safety, suitability for the purpose and performance. The appliances must carry the CE mark, which indicates compliance. Valvira supervises the compliance of medical devices and supplies. In addition, STUK has specified acceptability criteria for the performance of equipment used in X-ray diagnostics, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine.
