Warning signs

The responsible party must mark radiation appliances, radioactive substances and their usage and storage locations with the appropriate warning signs.

The Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority’s Guide ST 1.3 presents the general instructions for marking radiation appliances, radioactive substances and their places of use. The guide applies to both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.

The warning sign must draw attention to the radiation hazard. The warning contained by the sign must be such that even a person with no knowledge of radiation protection understands it.
When choosing the type of marking, consideration must be given to the severity of the danger caused by the radiation, occupational and environmental conditions and other safety aspects.
