Radon

What is radon and how can it be mitigated in indoor air?
Radon is a colourless and odourless noble gas that is present in the indoor air in homes and at workplaces. Approximately two thirds of the annual radiation dose received by Finns results from radon present in indoor air. Radon-bearing air from the soil seeps into the house through openings and gaps in the base floor. Radon prevention in the construction phase is easier and less expensive than implementing mitigation measures afterwards.
