Construction licenceThe licence to construct a nuclear power plant is granted by the Government. The application and hearing procedures of the licence are prescribed in detail in the Nuclear Energy Act and Decree. STUK makes a statement on the application for the construction licence. A safety assessment is attached to the statement. As regards the issues to be verified by the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, STUK takes a stand on the fulfilment of the requirements set by the legislation. The requirements for granting the construction licence are prescribed in the sections 18 and 19 of the Nuclear Energy Act. Page updated 27/04/2009
