Co-operation with the nuclear regulatory authorities of Russia

The co-operation between STUK and Russia's Rostechnadzor dates back to the co-operation agreement with the Soviet Union in 1988. The broad-brush co-operation has developed into clear themes in the 1990s.

The local inspectors of Rostechnadzor at Leningrad and Kola NPPs report regularly to STUK on operational events of the units.

The capabilities of the Russian regulator to analyse safety issues is improved through providing analysis tools and training.

Guidelines for Russian regulatory work are prepared in co-operation utilising the Finnish experience.
