Safety support programme of the IAEAIn 1990 The International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA started an Extrabudgetary Programme on the Safety of VVER and RBMK NPPs. The programme produced lists of prioritised actions to be taken. The IAEA supports the nuclear safety authorities of its member countries in Central and Eastern Europe by providing them with situation assessments and seminars. The Finns have actively taken part in the work as experts invited by the IAEA. Finland has hosted several seminars.
