Radioactive sources and Nuclear physics data for safety and security applications

Aim of the study

This project is composed from the following subtasks: Production of enriched 133mXe sources; Energy loss measurements of protons in water; Properties of heavy elements, fission products and fission process.

Implementation

Measurements will primarily be made at University of Jyväskylä, in Finland. Data will be analyzed both at University of Jyväskylä and at STUK in Helsinki. These studies will also involve researchers from other universities and research institutes.

Dissemination and exploitation of the results

This project will generate a large number of publications. Notice that methods to be developed and data to be produced will be in a central role in several applications. Therefore, this project has already been recognised internationally.

Collaborators

University of Jyväskylä will act as the main collaborator. Many researchers from various universities all around the world will also participate in the research work.
