The decay of 133mXe

Aim of the study

The aim of the study was to accurately determine the internal conversion coefficient of 133mXe.

Implementation

The experimental part of this project was performed at the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. A detailed analysis of the collected decay-data was made at STUK.

Dissemination and exploitation of the results

The project led to more precise experimental understanding of the decay of 133mXe. This information is especially important for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO). The results of this work were published in Applied Radiation and Isotopes in 2008 (Vol. 66, p. 530) and in a Master of Science thesis by Jani Turunen in 2007.
