Determination of patient doses at paediatric x-ray examinations

Aim of the study

The aim is to determine effective doses to patients in the most common paediatric x-ray examinations.

Implementation

Effective dose to patients will be determined and the sources of error in the methods are investigated. Uncertainties for the determination of effective dose are estimated. The results are compared with internationally published information.

Dissemination and exploitation of the results

The results are published in an international journal. The research will provide information on the patient dose levels and optimisation techniques in paediatric examinations, for use of the regulatory control.  The results can also help in selecting alternative methods of examinations.
