WHO project on residential radon risk

Aim of the study

The project aims to estimate the risks and health effects of radon globally and to publish new guides on recommendations on action levels, measurements, radon prevention in new buildings and on mitigation.

Implementation

The project started in January 2005 and has proceeded in the following workgroups. 1. Risk evaluation 2. Recommendations 3. Cost benefit analysis 4. Measurements, mitigation and prevention 5. Risk communication  6. Programme evaluation

Dissemination and exploitation of results

A new WHO radon handbook will be published in 2009-2010.
