Renewing of the mobile whole-body counter

Aim of the study

The objective of the project was to replace the old mobile whole body counter unit, including the lorry. The project included equipping the lorry with necessary electronics and performing calibrations to ensure the equipment is suitable for whole-body counting.

Implementation

The acquisition of the lorry and of the carrossery and the installation of the body of the measuring unit were performed in 2006. In 2007 both the liquid nitrogen and electrically cooled semiconductor detectors and the DSPEC analysers were installed. The detectors were calibrated to whole body counting.

Dissemination and exploitation of the results

As a result of the project, the mobile measuring laboratory that is used for the performing of whole-body counting for service, study and preparedness tasks was completed.

Collaborators

Carrossery manufacturer M-Partners PLC, Finland

Timetable

The project was started in 2006. The first measurements with the equipment were performed in May 2007. The building project became maintenance process in 2008.
