STUK authorised repairs at Olkiluoto nuclear power plant

The Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) has authorised modifications made by Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) to the protections of  the main generators and primary coolant pumps of both units at Olkiluoto nuclear power plant. Protection deficiencies were detected when Unit 1 of the power plant was resuming operation after annual maintenance towards the end of May.  Due to the deficiencies, and to ascertain safety, TVO has had to operate the plants at reduced reactor power.

The performance of the modifications designed and carried out by TVO was tested after their completion. STUK witnessed the performance of the modifications and tests carried out by TVO.

TVO is now able to operate the plants normally.
